Grassroots football in Nigeria,
properly recorded.

Every weekend thousands of matches are played on community pitches across Nigeria — and almost none of them are recorded anywhere. Area Match is a free app that changes that. Local captains publish fixtures and update scores live. Players build a real record of their goals and awards. Fans follow their team from anywhere.

How Area Match works

Area Match is built around the people who already organise local football. Nothing changes about how matches are arranged — the app simply records what happens.

For captains

Create a match, build your squad, run the clock live and publish the official score. Give player awards after the game. Everything you post appears instantly on the public feed.

For players

Join your captain's squad and every goal you score is recorded. Build a profile with your stats, match history, awards and a downloadable player card you can share.

For fans

Follow captains and back teams in your state. Watch scores update minute by minute, chat during live matches, and see results the moment they're official.

What you can do

Live match scores

Captains update the score as goals go in. Everyone following sees the change immediately, with the match minute, venue and scorers. No refreshing, no waiting for someone to post it in a group chat.

Real player statistics

Goals, matches played, goals per match, scoring streaks and standout performances — all computed from published results. A grassroots striker who scored seven in nine finally has somewhere that says so.

Player awards

Captains award Man of the Match, Golden Boot, Best Defender and seven other honours. Each comes with original trophy artwork and sits permanently on the player's profile.

Shareable match artwork

Every match generates a downloadable poster with both teams, the scoreline and the venue. Player cards show a player's kit, stats and honours. Built to be shared into WhatsApp groups.

Match chat

A live chat opens at kick-off for everyone following the match, and closes at full time. Argue about the referee with the rest of your community while the game is happening.

Where it's used

Area Match covers community football across all 36 Nigerian states and the FCT. Matches are filtered by state, so you see what's happening near you — whether that's Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Rivers, Kano or anywhere else.

It is built specifically for the way grassroots football actually works here: matches arranged between local sides, played on community pitches, organised by captains who know everyone involved.

Common questions

Is Area Match free?

Yes. Free for captains, players and fans. There is no paid tier.

Do I need to download anything?

No. Area Match runs in your browser. You can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app, but there's nothing to install from a store.

Who can publish scores?

Only the captain who created the match. That keeps results trustworthy — one person is accountable for each scoreline, and it's the person who organised the game.

How do players get their stats?

A player creates an account and joins their captain's squad. From then on, any goal recorded against their name in a published result counts towards their profile.

How much data does it use?

Very little. There are no video uploads and no photo uploads — all artwork is drawn by the app itself, so pages stay light on mobile data.
